Full blooded Siamese cats and their offspring
can easily be distinguished from all other cat races by their
slender, graceful bodies. They originated in South East Asia
. Nobody really knows why their characteristically slender
body forms have dominated over such a long period of time.
The first cats appeared in England in 1892 and the second
generation in 1902 with a similar appearence to our modern
day , slender Siamese.
Clever business men soon decided to cross-breed domestic cats
with the few valuable, exclusive Siamese in order to increase
their numbers. This resulted in two varieties of Siamese:
Typical classical and
additionally the so-called "Apple-heads" from their
domestic forefathers.....compact but elegant.
Exhibition classics ( FIFe) : Oriental cats like the Siamese,
Balinese and Javanese varieties have common standards. The
ideal cat is slender with a long, elegant supple body which
is middle-sized and musculous.
Siamese and other Orientals should have short, close-fiting,
sleek and shiny fur.
